Worship and Wonder is faith formation centered approach to worship for Kids at Living Faith. Worship and Wonder uses storytelling, ritual, and fellowship to help our kids deepen their relationship with God.

Worship and Wonder at Living Faith is a unique way for our children, ages 4 through 5th grade*, to hear the beautiful and eloquent truths of the Bible shared in a very simple, natural form.   In an age where many feel children need to be entertained in a high-tech way, we have chosen to share Biblical truths with children without bells or whistles. Why?  Because we want children to discover who God is and to experience God’s presence.  Using the principles of learning in the Montessori method, we share worship with children in a peaceful, reverent manner with beautifully handcrafted wooden materials, demonstrating the power and richness of God through thoughtful presentations of the stories of the Bible. The leaders serve as spiritual guides who fully accept that each child already has his or her own relationship with God.  We invite the children to “wonder” more about God, and we worship and wonder along with them.

How it works:  At Living Faith, children begin their worship experience in the sanctuary with the entire congregation.  This gives families an opportunity to experience shared worship  and helps children know that they are an integral part of the church family as a whole. Midway through the service, children are invited to meet a Worship and Wonder leader at the back of the sanctuary to go to the Children’s Chapel (down the hall near the children’s classrooms) to continue their worship.   (The invitation to Worship and Wonder is listed in the bulletin.)  Children are picked up by parents from the Children’s Chapel following worship.

We would be delighted for you and your child join us for worship at Living Faith this Sunday!  If you would like to find out more about Worship and Wonder, please feel free to talk with the pastor or Karen Birdwhistell, Children’s Ministry Leader.  We’d be happy to share more information about the philosophy and format of our Worship and Wonder program.

*Please note that the ages of children participating in Worship and Wonder are flexible:  Some four-year-olds are more comfortable remaining in the nursery during the worship hour.   (Nursery is available for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.) Also, some older children are more comfortable staying in the sanctuary during the entire worship hour.  You know your child best, so please feel free to encourage him or her to do whatever is most meaningful for your family.
